The Role of the Transfusion Practitioner: Then, Now, and Beyond — Webinar 4th December 2025

Join us for a one‑hour webinar on Thursday 4 December 2025 at 2:00 pm (GMT / UK time), organised by the BBTS in partnership with Werfen. The session will explore how the role of the Transfusion Practitioner (TP) has evolved, and where it is headed, with the support of the Professional Development Framework

Through insights from leading speakers (to be confirmed), we will discuss:

  • The historical context and development of the TP role.
  • Current responsibilities, challenges, and best practices in transfusion services.
  • How the new Professional Development Framework aims to support standardised competencies, career progression, and quality of care.

This webinar will be especially valuable for transfusion practitioners, laboratory staff, transfusion‑service managers, and clinical colleagues involved in transfusion and patient‑blood management.  Our patient partner Anna Mamwell will be joining the panel after the webinar

We have been made aware of a technical issue affecting the blood transfusion shared care communication form. The shared‑care blood transfusion communication form was developed and is owned by the National Blood Transfusion Committee (NBTC) Shared Care Working Group with input from SHOT.
