The PBM team are delighted to share that the QS138 Quality Insights team have been awarded the 2024 Bill Chaffe Unsung Hero Award by the British Blood Transfusion Society. The award is given to any individual or team who have gone above and beyond in their support for the transfusion community and patients. QS138 compliance aligns with key recommendations within the Infected Blood Inquiry. Launched in March 2023, over 140 hospitals are now registered across England and Wales to use the quality improvement audit tool with 6000 cases audited so far.

The Quality Insights team: Anwen Davies, Sasha Wilson, Brian Hockley, and Andrea Marshall are thrilled to accept this award.

“We would like to acknowledge that without the collaboration and dedication of the South East Transfusion Practitioners (where it all began), Snap Surveys Ltd., our pilot sites, many NHSBT teams and finally the whole PBM team, we would not be where we are today. A huge thank you to everyone who has and who continue to support its use.”
