Jill began her career as a trainee Biomedical Scientist, qualifying and becoming state registered in 2000, where she progressed into the role of Blood Transfusion Technical Manager for 3 hospital sites in the North-East of England. In 2021, she moved into a national role working as a Lead Specialist for Blood Stocks Management Scheme within NHS Blood and Transplant.
Jill's new role as the education development lead for the Transfusion 2024 programme is focused on reviewing the content and delivery of transfusion educational offerings currently available, whilst focusing on improving scientific training and education to strengthen and support both the existing and future scientific workforce.
Jill is passionate about transfusion education and currently sits on the IBMS Specialist Advisory Panel for Transfusion Science, where she holds the role of Chief examiner for the Higher Specialist Diploma for Transfusion Science. Jill is also the IBMS representative for the UK Transfusion Laboratory Collaborative.
Outside of work, Jill enjoys time with her family and friends, reading, keeping fit, and going to concerts.
