Karim Premji is an experienced healthcare IT professional with over two decades of experience delivering and supporting complex clinical and business systems. He began his career at Nottingham Trent University (NTU), working within IT services on desktop delivery, endpoint management, and antivirus protection.
He subsequently moved into a role as a Pathology IT Systems Manager, where he developed extensive knowledge of pathology services and laboratory information systems. Working closely with clinical, scientific and operational teams, Karim was responsible for supporting, enhancing and integrating critical healthcare systems, helping to improve service delivery, streamline processes and support the evolving needs of diagnostic services.
Karim has also worked as a freelance IT contractor, supporting the delivery of a variety of IT projects for organisations across the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States, helping to implement technology solutions and service improvements.
Karim recently joined the Transfusion Transformation Programme as Development Lead (IT) for the Hospital Blood Data Integration Project (HoBDIP). In this role, he supports the delivery of digital transformation initiatives that improve data integration, reporting and information management across transfusion services.
Outside of work, Karim enjoys mentoring and coaching in a variety of sports, particularly football. He also enjoys playing tennis, football and snooker, and is an avid film enthusiast. He is currently training to become an FA-qualified Under-18 football coach. Karim is passionate about technology and data to drive innovation in healthcare.
