This session explores how current BSH guidelines and best clinical practice informed the development of an Emergency Department Major Haemorrhage Protocol proforma. It will demonstrate how optimising the use of available tools and resources supported protocol improvement, enhanced clinical practice, and contributed to a reduction in blood component wastage. The session will also provide an overview of the key principles of Emergency Department Major Haemorrhage Protocols, including component selection, adjunctive therapies, and recommended transfusion sequencing.
