Transfusion Practitioners Vicky Waddoups (Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust) and Aimee Burtenshaw (University Hospitals of Derby and Burton) proudly represented the TP community at the IBMS Congress in Birmingham last week.

Vicky presented in the student session, showcasing the TP role as an exciting career pathway. She highlighted how Biomedical Scientists bring a wealth of transferable skills to the role, and inspired students by describing the additional “super powers” you develop as your TP career progresses.

Aimee, alongside Jennifer Rock (NHSBT),  introduced the upcoming Professional Development Framework for TPs. Their presentation explored how the framework will support colleagues moving into the role from different backgrounds, while also emphasising its importance in supporting not just the TP, but also patients and organisations.

A big thank you to Vicky and Aimee and to the IBMS for inviting our TPs to share their expertise and vision for the future of the role.
