Following the February 2026 update to NICE QS138 Statement 2 on tranexamic acid (TXA), the QS138 Quality Insights quality improvement tool has been updated to reflect the broadened eligibility criteria. Updates have been made to the data entry platform, hospital and regional compliance reports, and supporting guidance.
A new Interim Addendum to the QS138 Quality Insights Hospital User Guide (September 2026) is now available, providing updated advice on QS2 (TXA) audit population selection, including:
- Minimum criteria for a generic audit approach
- Suggested patient subgroups for targeted quality improvement activity
- Additional considerations for case selection and data interpretation
The Interim Addendum should be used alongside the original QS138 Quality Insights Hospital User Guide (Version 1, February 2023). Whilst this update focuses on QS2 (TXA), the original guide remains applicable for all other quality statements and existing guidance on reporting frequency and data submission.
